Steven had been diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis several years ago. His condition was getting progressively worse, and he noticed that he didn’t have the energy to do normal daily tasks that he used to do – tasks like household chores and walking the store. However, when he received Lung Restoration Treatment at the Lung Health Institute, all of that changed. Read through his story as he describes the before and after difference of receiving Lung Restoration Treatment.
My Life Before Lung Restoration Treatment
When I was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis, I learned that there is no cure. It felt like there was nothing anyone could do for me. My doctors had me on several different medications, but I did not feel confident that the pills were helping me. I started doing research on the possibility of a lung transplant, but I didn’t feel like that was a good option for me.
I was not a happy man. I struggled to do any sort of physical activity. I struggled walking up hills and climbing stairs. I was also in a lot of pain all of the time. It was awful. I couldn’t breath and I was in so much pain. I struggled for a lot of years because I simply didn’t know what my options were.
My Life After Lung Restoration Treatment
About a month after my treatment, I noticed my energy level was higher. I was breathing a little bit easier. More than anything, I have the energy to move around my house and do the things that I need to do. I also noticed that the body aches and pains went away. I don’t get headaches anymore. I never used to be able to sleep on my back because I would wake up choking. That doesn’t happen anymore; now, I can sleep however I want. I breathe easier at night, and I’m able to sleep through the night now.
Getting this [Lung Restoration] treatment was not the easiest thing I have ever done, but the positives outweigh the negatives.
I recently had a CT scan, and we noticed that I showed no progression of my pulmonary fibrosis. Before the treatment, I would have CT scans roughly every nine months, and each scan would show some degree of progression of my pulmonary fibrosis. I was really happy to notice that I hadn’t gotten worse!
I feel better and I am going to keep working hard. I am going to keep fighting.
