Stem Cell Therapy as an Alternative Form of COPD Treatment
A promising form of alternative chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) treatment available at the Lung Institute, stem cell therapy uses a patient’s own stem cells to help alleviate inflammation and may slow the progression of this troublesome lung disease. In this treatment, stem cells are taken from the patient’s own body, then processed and reintroduced into the patient’s body intravenously. Stem cells are uniquely capable of promoting healing throughout the body. When used as a form of COPD treatment, stem cell therapy has helped many individuals significantly improve their quality of life.
Many individuals who use stem cell therapy as an alternative form of COPD treatment may find that their symptoms gradually improve in the days and weeks that follow their procedure. For instance, stem cell therapy may make it easier to breathe. In some cases, patients may be able to reduce their dependence on supplemental oxygen. And, while other COPD treatments are primarily aimed at alleviating the symptoms of the condition, stem cell treatments have the potential to slow the progression of the disease. As a result, patients may experience long-term benefits that they would not be able to obtain from other forms of COPD treatment.
The Lung Institute is the world’s only stem cell center that focuses exclusively on the treatment of lung conditions, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in its various stages. We offer two different procedures that can be used as an alternative COPD treatment:
- Venous (blood-derived) stem cell therapy, in which the stem cells are obtained from the patient’s blood
- Bone marrow-based stem cell therapy, in which the stem cells are obtained from the patient’s bone marrow
With both procedures, the stem cells are processed in our on-site lab. Then they are administered in our clean and comfortable treatment rooms. Both natural treatments are performed on an outpatient basis, and comprehensive follow-up care is provided by our caring medical team.
If other forms of COPD treatment haven’t provided you with adequate relief, an alternative may be waiting for you at the Lung Institute. To speak with one of our friendly team members, call (800) 729-3065. We’re here to help you explore your options whenever you’re ready.
